Russian high tech at Hannover Messe 2015.

Fastwel participates in   Hannover Messe exhibition on 12-17th April 2015, this time as a part of iMoscow booth. There the most innovative, high-tech companies of Moscow come together, to demonstrate its core competencies. The aim of such a collaboration was to let visitors see for themselves that Russian companies provide modern high-tech solutions, competitive in the global markets.

Fastwel introduced its rugged customized Tablet PC  highly resistant to shocks and vibrations as well as industrial SBCs for mission critical applications.

Overall, the iMoscow residents’ products, such as super conductors, medical equipment, rugged electronics — attracted numerous visitors.

The future of industrial communications: Fieldbus or Ethernet?

Having recently joint Fastwel as a Head of European Branch, I’ve attended the first event in a new role. It was a workshop, organized by Telerex in Breda, the Netherlands, where over 40 industrial automation experts arrived to discuss the state of art in industrial communications. The experts talked about pros and cons of Fieldbuses and Ethernet communications for industrial automation. Fastwel CPC510 is a highly integrated 3U CPCI Serial solution for using in real time systems, manufacturing control, high-speed collection and processing of data. СРС510 is another product in the range of 3U CPCI modules manufactured by Fastwel Group.

The board is based on the Intel Ivy Bridge CPU (2- or 4-core CPUs) which has one of the highest performances in its class.

CPC510 uses high speed I/O interfaces (PCI-Express, Gigabit Ethernet) and modern technologies for video data processing. Modular structure of the device enables a flexible setting of the system for particular fields, which optimizes a price-quality relationship.

To expand CPC510 functionalities, MIC584 mezzanine module is used. Its detailed description is given in the User Manual.

Stable operation of CPC510 enables its use in all industrial applications. Components, on which CPC510 is based, are carefully selected in accordance with the embedded system applicability criteria which make the module perfectly fit for the long life cycle systems.

The module has the following structure of I/O channels:

— 2 GB/s Ethernet controllers (2x routed to the front panel);

— 12x USB 2.0 ports supporting HS, FS and LS data rates (2x on the front panel, 2x on the mezzanine, 8x on the backplane connector);

CPC506 is a PICMG 2.30 «CompactPCI Plus» compliant 3U module based on Intel Сore 2 Duo CPUs (from long term manufacturing program) operating at up to 2.2 GHz with 4 MB level 2 cache, featuring
800 MHz system bus and 965GME/ICH8M chipset. The processor executes up to 8 floating point operations per clock cycle and can address up to 4 GB of soldered DDR2 system memory in 64bit mode.

An increased heatsink for CPU and chipset cooling allows efficient heat dissipation within wide ambient air temperature range.

CPC506 is PICMG 2.30 «CompactPCI Plus» compliant and allows to use 32bit PCI bus together with intermodule communication for highspeed data exchange: two Gigabit Ethernet channels, four x1 PCI Express lanes, 4 USB channels.

The graphics controller of Intel 965GME supports output of two independent video streams to two DVID interfaces (8HP modification) or to standard VGA interface.

The firmware of CPC506 supports booting from LAN, from SD cards, from soldered 4 GB flash memory disk, or HDDs, installed on CompactPCI Plus carrier (KIC550) with SATA support, or from drives located on MIC584 mezzanine module. The MIC584 mezzanine module supports SATA II interface with option to mount 1.8″ SATA disk drive, SATA DOM solidstate modules and also offers six COM ports, two USB 2.0, PS/2 and audio interfaces.

The CPC504 is a 3U CompactPCI PICMG 2.0 compliant host processor module based on low power dual core Intel Сore 2 Duo CPUs operating at 1.6 GHz or 2.2 GHz with 4 MB level 2 cache and featuring 800 MHz system bus. The processor executes up to 8 floating point operations per clock cycle and can
address up to 4 GB of soldered DDR2 system memory in 64bit mode.

An increased heatsink for CPU and chipset cooling with effective surface area of up to 682 cm2 allows efficient heat dissipation within wide ambient air temperature range.

For highspeed data exchange CPC504 employs two Gigabit Ethernet channels, four x1 PCI-Express lanes, and 32-bit PCI bus. The graphics controller of Intel 965GME supports output of two independent video streams to VGA and LVDS interfaces or to two DVI-D interfaces available at MIC588 mezzanine expansion module.

The firmware of CPC504 supports booting from LAN, from the onboard SD cards, from soldered 4 GB flash memory disk, or from SATA II (up to 300 MB/s) and IDE drives located on MIC584 mezzanine expansion module or on a rear I/O module.

The MIC584 mezzanine module supports two SATA II interfaces with option to mount either SATA DOM solidstate modules or one standard 1.8″ SATA disk drive. Six COM ports, two USB 2.0, PS/2, and audio interfaces are available via the MIC584 module as well.

CPC504 supports Windows XP/XP Embedded, Linux, and QNX operating systems.

CPC508 is a 3U CompactPCI Atom N450/D510 PICMG 2.30 «CompactPCI Plus» compliant 3U module based on Intel® Atom™ N450 or D510 and ICH8M chipset. Due to the low power architecture of the Intel® Atom™ processor, the CPU card has a low power consumption and high performance. A specially outlined heat sink efficiently takes away the heat from the board, even at the extended temperature range.

CPC508 is designed especially for systems which require low power consumption, e.g. as a computing platform for rugged industrial PCs in mobile applications or for infotainment applications, offering the whole world of Windows® and Linux based software.

On the CPC508 module high-speed interfaces of input-output are applied (PCI-Express, Gigabit Ethernet, DVI) and modern technologies for operation with video are supported. Modular creation of a product allows system flexible set up for specific scopes, optimizing thereby the price/quality balance.

The PICMG 2.30 «CompactPCI Plus» compliance allows to use 32bit PCI bus together with intermodule communication for high-speed data exchange: two Gigabit Ethernet channels, four x1 PCI Express lanes, 4 USB channels, 2 SATA channels.

For extended system functionality the mezzanine module MIC589 with video/audio interfaces, CAN and serial ports is used. MIC589 can be connected to the processor CPC508 module from both sides left and right. One of the most important advantages of such expansion unit installation method is that it is possible to connect less cables to the processor CPC508 module or to avoid them absolutely. This can make the installation and dismantling of the CPU module from system easier.

The Fastwel CPC503 6U CompactPCI CPU module is an embedded computer on x86 platform
for use in server or client systems for a wide range of applications. CPC503 is based
on 2-nd generation Intel Core i7 (2/4 cores) processors operating at frequencies
from 1.5 to 2.2 GHz and on QM67 Peripheral Controller Hub.
Up to 8 GB of DDR3 SDRAM memory with ECC operating at 1333 MHz is soldered
onboard the CPC503.
CPC503 graphics capabilities include VGA, Displayport, DVI, and LVDS interfaces.
Four Gigabit Ethernet ports are used for networking.
Interface set of CPC503 also includes 12 USB 2.0 ports, four SATA channels, audio
interface and standard J1-J5 CompactPCI connectors at the rear edge of the board.
Fastwel CPC503 supports one XMC/PMC expansion module mounted onboard and
specially designed Fastwel RIO587 rear I/O module. CPC503 provides one 64-bit 66
MHz CompactPCI interface with hot swap capability. The module interfaces with
CompactPCI bus via the built-in PCI-E <-> PCI bridge, this allows using CPC503
either as master system controller or as a slave device in one PCI bus segment.
One of the features of CPC503 is support for PICMG CompactPCI Packet Switching
Backplane Specification version 2.16. Being installed on a backplane supporting the
packet switching mode, CPC503 can communicate with peripheral devices or with
the system master board supporting this mode via two Gigabit Ethernet ports.
The components of CPC503 are carefully selected according to the criteria of applicability
in embedded systems and long-term availability on the market. This makes
this module an ideal device, based on which the systems with long life cycle can be
built.
CPC503 is compatible with Windows 7, QNX 6.5.0, VxWorks 6.8 (on request), and
Linux® 2.6 operating systems.
