Fastwel announced the launch of a new EPIC CPU board – CPC800. This SBC will be available starting from the first quarter of 2006. The size of this board – 115x165 mm - allows to apply it for very compact embedded applications. The device is developed for use in harsh environment where there is a demand for high efficiency and reliability as, for instance, in the railway industry, aerospace or process control. Due to used components with guaranteed long-term availability, this platform will be permanently supplied for not less than 5 years.

CPC800 is based on Intel® Pentium® M processor up to 2.1 GHz, which makes it an ideal solution for complicated application tasks.  High computing power is supported by 1 GB of DDR SDRAM and up-to-date interfaces: two Gigabit Ethernet ports, two EIDE UATA 100 and two Serial ATA channels. With all that, CPC800 presents itself a perfect platform for all critical aspects of performance: data acquisition, processing and storage on removable carriers.

Moreover, this CPU board has a complete set of standard interfaces: four serial ports, four USB 2.0 ports, one LPT port, PS/2 keyboard and mouse. The video system supports resolution up to 2048x1536, CRT displays and TFT panels. CPC800 multimedia functions are supplemented by AC’97 2.3 compliant audio controller. The expansion capabilities of the card are provided by the possibility of standard PC/104 and PC/104+ modules installation in appropriate connector. CPC800 specifications allow to install up to four expansion modules.

The reliability of the board is maintained by specific design, soldered processor and memory, as well as thorough selection of components. As a result, CPC800 can be successfully applied in harsh environment - production areas, unheated premises, onboard solutions, etc. In operating conditions, the device can withstand vibration up to 5g and shock up to 50g at the temperature range from -40oC to +85oC.  It is important to note that within this temperature range CPC800 keeps its working capacity without forced cooling. Since moving elements are the most vulnerable parts of any development, without a fan the system is even more reliable. The board has CompactFlashTM Type I/II or Microdrive socket onboard with Ultra ATA Interfaces or Serial ATA channels. When using a built-in operating system with a compact kernel (for instance, Windows CE), CPC800 doesn’t need any additional drives at all due to the 32 MB Solid State disk soldered onboard. The SBC also has a programmable watchdog timer, hardware monitor, real-time clock and other industrial expansion capabilities, thus providing stable performance and uninterrupted operation.
